I got this letter from a fan the other day and I thought I would share it with you. It is really quite thought provoking.

Hi Alistair,

I want to break whatever pact I made with [My religious community] (I think that means cult)  they seem to thrive on poverty, lack, a simple sexless lifestyle of ahimsa towards animals and everything is a distraction- lover, children, things, wealth. Anything good!

Submitting to a life of suffering cause I need to be cleaned to return to no name heaven is ridiculous. I think they are MAD. My life is in shambles and they say… Oh it’s necessary, for  F***ing what? Bliss? They can stuff it! So, Warren Buffet, Oprah, Elon Musk, Chamath Palihapitiya, and Richard Branson, just to name a few…. Are not going to No Name heaven? They are doing amazing things for humanity and they are not begging for anything or saying God save me… They are enjoying life!

Thanks V.

Well V, I’m glad you asked: this is how I responded.

I couldn’t agree more. I have no idea what the connection is between being poor and spirituality. …. Maybe it is the right answer for people seduced by glamour, and only for them. Conversely, if you use spiritual principles just for the purposes of making money, then you are selling yourself short. Spirituality can produce any outcome we choose. Any at all. Money is such a poor choice of manifestation, don’t you think?

So why is it so prevalent that we focus on money? Either wanting it all or none: such extremes… Its a big let down. Money is a game we made up, it’s a man given thing, so why base our sprirituality around it. Why make a force that spans uncountable dimensions with unlimited potential to create into a bullshit game we made up? How did that happen?

Even the hippies have got it wrong. They have been poor custodians of this esoteric knowledge. They are right to want to opt out of society. In its current form, you’d have to be mad to engage in a money game that is so rigged, you can never win. Though they only have half the story: Everything is love. Which is great. It is simple and beautiful. But it hasn’t given them a huge following, it hasn’t created the revolution we were hoping for, and it has placed them at the bottom rung of our society. Their high principles have not been enough to change the world, so far at least…

Money is something that man made up,
Why base our spirituality around it?

Though I am enjoying the fact that the brand of spirituality that the new age community subscribes to is so open. There is no orthodoxy in that group. Well, almost none. There is a stream that has created a positivity orthodoxy, and they are so close to getting it as well, just not quite… It’s a bit of a minefield too.  The point I want to make is that with so many influences to their spirituality, some of them actually get the formula right. The number of people coming out of that community who understand what reality actually is.

That with their minds they can create anything. And instead of poverty or wealth, these guys are thinking much bigger than that. And that really excites me. So V, I hear you ask if those leaders go to a no-name heaven. The fact of the matter is that they are making the Earth into the heaven it was born to be. I hope that helps out.

Stay awesome guys and I’ll see you with another post next week.
